Chikkabasanapura Lake Bio-Remediation
300 mm DI pipeline and pump station brings treated water from Yellamallappa Chetty to Chikkabasanapura Lake, with in-lake bacterial-consortium dosing to hold compliant chemistry.

Compliance
◆ The challenge
What we
walked into.
The urban lake had collapsed under chronic sewage inflow and stormwater loading — hyper-eutrophic column, DO close to zero, algal mats over open water, and odour complaints from residents. The site sits inside a dense neighbourhood, so any intervention had to be chemical-free, low-noise, and safe for the surrounding community.
◆ Before · After
The shift, in one frame.

Baseline
Hyper-eutrophic · thick algal mat · DO collapsed

Outcome state
Compliant outflow · NGT 2019 · clarity returning
◆ Our approach
Calibrated,
not generic.
- 01
MIW Bacillus consortium dosing
A site-specific Bacillus consortium is dosed at the inflow and open-water zones, with initial bacterial activation in under 30 minutes — no synthetic chemicals, no sediment dredging, no disruption to the shoreline.
- 02
Facultative-to-aerobic phase shift
Bacterial growth drives organic-matter breakdown through nitrification and denitrification, lifting dissolved oxygen and breaking the H₂S / phosphorus loop that fuels the algal bloom.
- 03
NABL-accredited compliance dossier
Weekly grab samples by certified field officers, paired with NABL-accredited lab analysis, build a live compliance dossier against NGT 2019 and CPCB norms — no retrofit reporting at handover.
◆ Outcome
By the end of the treatment window the lake sits inside NGT 2019 / CPCB inland-surface-water limits — BOD, COD, ammonical N and total N all pulled back into compliance range, with algal cover visibly retreating from the inflow corridor and column clarity returning to the open-water zone.
